The Sip of Red

Sale Price:€300.00 Original Price:€500.00
sale

Medium: Oil on board
Size: 59 W x 71 H x 2 cm
Year: 2018

Painted in 2019 during my geometric portrait series, The Sip of Red is an intimate exploration of how alcohol shapes perception. I was drinking red wine while creating it—not for its taste, which I had yet to enjoy, but for the way it altered my senses.

It mirrors the complexity of our relationship with substances we "learn" to like—whether wine, coffee, or anything else we convince ourselves to accept.

It took me years to appreciate the taste of red wine. That journey—of forcing something foreign into familiarity—is at the heart of this painting. It’s about the strange travels we make to let something into our lives, even when it doesn’t always bring us joy in the long run. Like a medicine.

This artwork is an original oil painting on a board, built up over multiple layers using professional-grade oil paints, allowing for depth, richness, and subtle tonal transitions.

The surface has been carefully varnished to protect the colors and provide a unified, slightly satin finish that enhances the details and brushwork.

The painting is signed on the front and will come with a certificate of authenticity. It is framed in a handmade wooden frame.

Durable, archival, and made to last a lifetime.
